How We’re Different: We’re Enablers, Not Gatekeepers

Most marketing agencies want you dependent, locking down your assets and campaign results in proprietary systems to make you reliant on them for years on end. Why? Because they want you on retainer, which is agency-speak for a subscription. It’s reliable revenue for them, but it can really hinder your long-term growth and success. 

Think about it: All of the knowledge (workflow, optimizations, results) and creative assets are not retained within your company. Without direct access, you won’t have a clear understanding of what’s working and why, or if the agency’s work is even effective. If a team member leaves the agency, you could lose critical information about your own marketing campaigns and data (and without even knowing it). Additionally, locking down assets creates a difficult situation if you ever want to switch agencies or bring marketing in-house. Rebuilding campaigns from scratch is costly and time-consuming.

That really ruffles our… unicorn fur. We believe that marketing agencies should actively work to empower their clients to succeed independently, because that is what truly serves their long-term vision. In fact, our ultimate goal at Unicorn Creative is to make ourselves obsolete to you. As our co-founder, Lindsey Harris, puts it: “My goal is to educate and enable while we are in a relationship so that someday that client doesn’t need Unicorn Creative anymore. If we get them to a point where we’ve built the foundation, they understand the marketing tenants, how to strategize and apply that strategy, and they understand how to read their results and optimize and make more decisions. If I get a client to that point, I will have succeeded in my mission.”
